Ever Wonder...Why Surfing?

Ok I love net surfing as much as the next person, but some things strike me as odd about the internet in general. I’ve heard that the internet was started, I believe by the US, something to do with the military... I think. It’s hard to believe that something so many find so much fun in today was originally started by the government.....that just seems ironic. And how did the word “surfing” get paired with the internet. Why not some other word?

I came across an add on for Firefox the other day that is so amazing. It’s called Stumble and I just can’t stop....stumbling. Now there is a word to describe the internet, but I guess surfing might sound a little more cool. Anyway Stumble allows you to click on various subjects you are interested in and then it takes you to sites, videos and music you might enjoy. It does a lot more too. Just stumble on over, oops, I mean surf on over to Stumble and check it out for yourself.
